The activities involved in the existing proprietary businesses of Lt. Sri Santosh Kumar De and Smt.Anu De do consist in design & development, manufacture, installation and commissioning & servicing of the as yet unparalleled super-efficient super-economic machinery for the quality-and-cost-wise most vital processing operations in the production of cooking quality parboiled rice. The said businesses, for instance, were being carried out by the owners concerned, under the name & style of –

SKD Combustion & Engineering Co (Design & Development Consultants), and Annapurna Machinery Manufacturing Works,

respectively, the related business activities were being controlled, (to start with), from their previous common head Office located at —

47/2 Russa Road East 1st lane, Swiss Park, Kolkata -700 033, since January 1978 & January, 1988, respectively. Incidentally, the said Head Office has, thereafter, been shifted to 48/13, Swiss Park, Kolkata –700 033 in the year 2004

The afore-said super-economic machinery are, in fact, the embodiments of the ‘SKD Technology’ relating to paddy processing for Parboiled-rice production and may, for instance, be described briefly as follows :-

Super-efficient Fast-steeping “SUPERICE’ Paddy Parboiling System, conforming to a Unique Design (Comprising unique Water spray circulation & Steeping Arrangement, unique Steaming Arrangement, unique Paddy/Water/ Steam Separation & Discharge Arrangement,and other unique Arrangements including specially Designed Belt Conveyor), as invented & developed by SKD ;

SKD’s Research-Aaward Winning Super-economic Fast-drying “SUPER-ECON’ Parboiled-Paddy Drying System, comprising super-efficient ‘CYCLO-FLAME’ Automatic Cyclonic Absolutely Smokeless Husk-Furnace System, coupled with superb Automatic Cyclonic Direct-Hot Furnce Gas (& Ash) –Air Mix Process-Air Heating & Simultaneous Cooled-down-Ash Separation & Trapping System, for the purpose of obtaining hot drying air practically free of fly ash ;

FISSURE-PROOF’ M.S. Double-Chamber Dried- Paddy Cooling-Tempering Plant, as invented, designed & developed by SKD for simultaneous post-drying slow cooling-tempering of the fresh batch of dried hot paddy received in one Chamber, in order to prevent fissuring/cracking of the rice-kernels thereof, while discharging the previous batch of paddy, already being cooled & tempered, from the other Chamber, directly into the Milling Process through Chute by gravity; and

SKD’s Research-Award Winning super-efficient ‘CYCLO-FLAME’ automatic Cyclonic Environment-friendly Husk Furnace System (involving emission of absolutely Smokeless & practically fly-ash free Stack-Gas), comprising tertiary Combustion Chambers-cum-Ash Traps (of large Ash-holding Capacities) & Convenient Manual Ash Removal Arrangement, for Boiler (to generate Steam).

It may be mentioned here that by putting up the said embodiments of the ‘SKD Technology’ the Rice Mills concerned become basically potential Super-profitable ventures, In fact, the factors that contribute to the super-profits of the Mills concerned, e.g., much superior quality of the products(i.e., of the the Cooking quality Parboiled-rice & the Bran) , comparatively very low processing cost and much higher quantity of annual production relative to total capital investment, do arise mainly from the application of the said ‘SKD Technology’. The said SKD-Annapurna group began the marketing of the above-mentioned machinery in the country since 1979 and they have since supplied, installed & commissioned one or the other, or all of these machinery to & at more than hundred (100) Rice Mills.Further, a number of existing uneconomic Dryers of other makes have meanwhile been converted to the ‘Super-Econ’system.
